NJ Security Officer's Registration Act (SORA) The Security Officer Registration Act (N.J.S. 45:19A-1 to 45:19A-12) requires that all security officers employed in the State of NJ attend a 24-hour training and education course, led by a State Police-certified instructors.
Upon successful completion, a certificate of registration, valid for two years, is issued by the NJ State Police. All provisions of SORA have been in effect since July 1, 2007. Failure to comply with this law can result in up to a $10,000 to the company for a first offense and up to $20,000 each for subsequent offenses and $1,000 for the officer (YOU) for the first offense and $2,500 for subsequent offenses.

Cost is $75.00 (to the State of NJ) for your temporary license and $70.25 (to SagemMorpho) for fingerprints.
Both payable by credit card when you register.
PLEASE NOTE: That once you apply for your license you have 30 days to complete both requirements:
Fingerprinting & Training.
While you can work during this 30 day period, you must reapply if you fail to complete the requirements
- and you cannot work until that is done!
Schedule your class first!
I will run scheduled class for 1 person provided they have registered and paid their deposit. Companies that tell you they are not allowed to run a class for one person just choose not to.

I will schedule recert classes as I get requests. Class size is 2 to 50.
I will run the classes as 8 hours or 2 - 4 hour classes.
Normally a recert class is scheduled the day before the 24 hour training class.

HOW TO APPLY FOR YOUR LICENSE

Click on the first time applicant link.
Click on the type of application you are applying for: SECURITY OFFICER CERTIFICATION
Follow the online directions to get your 30 Day Temporary License
You pay for the Temporary License with a credit or credit card and you can work during the next 30 days! If you do not need to the temp. license to work - apply for it the first day of class.
Download your universal fingerprint application. #NJAPS2 Ver. 3.0
Go to https://www.bioapplicant.com/nj/ (do not schedule your fingerprint during class!)
Fill out the form, schedule your appointment and pay for it by Credit or Debit Card (or money order at the fingerprint site).
You have 30 days from when you apply for your license to get your fingerprints and take the class. Make sure you have your class scheduled before you apply.
If you are renewing your license you can do so 90 days before you expire but you must take the class 20 days after you pay for your license renewal.
